Located at a distance of 30 km north west of Agios Nikolaos town, Milatos is a lovely village, part of the tourist resorts of Sissi-Malia, better yet it remains peaceful and traditional. Milatos is surrounded by green cliff sides, lush greenery and a lovely beach within a couple of kilometres from the village village with several seaside taverns.
Close to the village, lies the historical cave of Milatos where 2,000 Greek people were sheltered by the Turks in 1823. The Greek residents of Milatos had found shelter there against the Turkish troops, but someone betrayed their location and the Turks killed them after a siege of 15 days. The cave is today open for visit and has a small church inside.
