Frangokastello (or Frangocastello) is located 13 kilometers east of Chora Sfakion and west of Plakias in the Sfakia district of west Crete.
Frangokastello is a little beach community with a few residences and a number of tourist-friendly rooms and apartments. It is known for its gorgeous beaches, the Drosoulites, the ghosts that materialize at Frangokastello before dawn every May, and its Venetian castle of the same name, which is in excellent shape. Many monuments have been created in the region throughout the ages, but only a handful have survived. The majority of them were destroyed in the area’s conflicts and uprisings, and the stones from their remains were used to construct the fortress.
Frangokastello is located in a remarkably small plain in the shadow of the White Mountains’ eastern range, which includes the Kallikratis Gorge and Mountain. This scene is only one of the numerous delights that Crete’s natural environment has to offer.
