ATTRACTIONS & BEACHES Categories: Attractions Rethymnon Attractions
The Ecclesiastical Museum is located at Mitropoleos Square, in the Cathedral of Rethymnon Town. It was founded in 1994. Sacred utensils, priest vestments, and religious artefacts from the mid-nineteenth century are among the displays.
The most famous of these is a historic bell tower clock from 1894, which operated until 1986 before being replaced with an electronic clock. A lithium plate dated 1866, as well as an engraved stone plate from 1816, were discovered in the church of Agia Barbara. Holy disks, gospels, and rare Byzantine icons, among other things, are on display in the museum.
