Cretaquarium

The Cretaquarium in Heraklion, Crete: The Crete Aquarium situated near Gouves, just a few kilometers from Heraklion Town and Hani Kokkini Beach. This is the Mediterranean’s largest aquarium, which opened in 2005. The Cretan Sea has long been noted for its abundant marine life and stunning rock formations.

The Crete Aquarium represents marine life with improved and magnificent natural landscape exhibits, giving visitors the opportunity to witness unique sea-living organisms. More than 2,500 Mediterranean and tropic marine animals and species may be seen in the aquarium’s more than 100 distinct zones. The goal of the Crete Aquarium is to provide tourists with a wonderful place of amusement where they can learn about Mediterranean marine life using modern ways that are appropriate for people of all ages. Large rooms with cutting-edge audio-visual equipment are available for exhibitions, presentations, and conferences.

Throughout the day, documentaries about the marine ecology are shown. Crete Aquarium, in addition to being educational, provides valuable insight into the marine ecology and its diverse spectrum of animals. It is open every day of the year.
